Chocolate Chip Cookies

September 28, 2011

I don’t know about you, but when I make chocolate chip cookies, I just use the recipe that’s on the bag of chips. Those days are gone.

This chocolate chip cookie recipe claims it’s the “best ever.” My friend wanted to see for herself so she tried them first and then brought a couple over to me for a second opinion. I fell in love with them–they were slightly crispy on the edges but still soft and chewy.

When I made them, it took me three times until I finally got them right. The first time I overcooked them. (When you bake these, set your oven timer for 8 minutes. Watch them carefully for maybe another minute, and then take them out. You want them almost undercooked.) The second time I didn’t have enough brown sugar, which is pretty crucial for this recipe. (The brown sugar helps to make them soft.)

Now that I’ve got the hang of it, I’ve successfully made them 3 or 4 times now. I have not used the chocolate chips bag recipe since!
