Strawberry Ice Cream

May 6, 2012

Yesterday I was cruising through Sur La Table (I love that store!) and saw that my ice cream maker now comes in many fun colors. If you are an ice cream lover (like me), I highly recommend purchasing an ice cream maker. We’ve had ours for almost a year and I haven’t bought store ice cream since. This is the first time I’ve made strawberry ice cream–not sure what took me so long to make it, but I’ll be making it again very soon!

Ingredients:

2 pints fresh strawberries (frozen works too, partially thawed)

1½ cups sugar

2 cups half-and-half

1 tbsp orange juice concentrate

Puree the berries with ¾ cup of sugar until smooth. Combine everything together, cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours. Pour chilled mixture into your ice cream maker and freeze according to machine directions.
