Whale Watching

Whale Watching-3

Earlier this week we went whale watching. It was amazing! We left from Oxnard, CA and headed out to Anacapa (part of The Channel Islands). There were hundreds of dolphins who played in the wake of our boat for pretty much the entire round trip. This was so fun to watch, especially when they swim right under the bow of the boat. Towards the end of the trip, we finally saw 1 grey whale, which was extremely exciting. I think everyone had figured we weren’t going to see any whales and the boat was just about to head back to Oxnard when someone yelled out that they saw one. We were right along the shoreline of Anacapa, and we stayed in that area another 3o minutes patiently waiting for another sighting, but only saw the whale one more time. The whale barely surfaced and took a quick breath before diving back down.

If you live in the LA area, I highly recommend doing this. We used Channel Islands Whale Watching, and it runs through the end of April. In fact, we liked it so much I think we will go again before the whale migrating season ends.

We saw so many dolphins on our way to Anacapa and a few sea lions (bottom left) too!
